The glorious 16th!!!!

Remember those days?
The getting there early (just to get a swim).
Waiting until midnight then casting out (yea right!).
Then sitting dosing in your chair watching the sunrise,bubbles on the water,float sliding away.
The dawn corous, reed warblers chirping away,a flash of blue and red as a kingfisher dashes past.
A fish or two in the keepnet.
Then home for breakfast and a kip.
Golden days,happy memories!!
I love fishing through the spring but that anticipation....wish i could bottle and sell it

Tench fishing the correct way, waggler by the lilly at first light on a 16th morning. Oh yes Mr R I recall it so well, lost days I fear, but i still search for that little lilly clad lake with pin prick bubbles coming up and rod dressed with centre pin and small peacock waggler.

when ever there was a need for a tiny tiny violin to be playing, its with theese two posts above this one. would you like a hankie to wipe away your tears.

Now young Ash me lad. You are too young to understand the meaning of the closed season. All fishing stopped come March the 14th and did not start until the 16 June. Can you imagine not being able to cast a line, not being able to do battle with hard fighting fish for a whole 3 months?

Just think of the joy once the 16 June came again, summer mornings spent fishing for tench, long session for carp...Man it was great.

Like i said Mr Maggot,if only i could bottle it,lol.
Not sad Ash just remembering the excitement after 3 monthes of NO FISHING!!! Don`t expect you young `uns to understand lol.

This was also the time of powdered milk, spam sarnies and when chicken tasted like chicken!!! Reading this stuff from Maggot & 1 cup makes me think that i have stumbled into a care home for bewildered anglers.

5 out of 6 times it rained anyway
