Just found my link...
Hello chaps...just found my link to the site, it got a bit lost in my lists of sites i do use anymore....
Just wondered how some of you are going ( that does not include you Vern)...I assume by the lack of catch reports etc that things have been slow.
So whos still out there and how are you diddling...Are Rowan and Ash still lovers?

Alright baldy, been a while mate. nah rohan dont do it for me no more, maybe should bring that big ol belly of yours down again see what that does
Lakes been picking up mate, but like most of the waters about this weather aint helping things, rohan is probably doing the best at the moment but he has put the most time in, think he has bout half a dozen out since jan, including a 23 when it was snowing so he was a happy bunny.
How about you mate, guess your out of hibernation now, any angling planned soon.

Re: Just found my link...
I have been chasing perch all winter trying to increase my PB ...guess i have to try again next winter. I am now looking forward trying the same with carp, but a different strain. I have set my stall out to get a large crucian this spring/summer. there is a local water which has a few and i shall have a few trips down south to Marsh farm.
I am afraid you will not be seeing my fat belly down there this year, The call of the big carp scene and session fishing has gone for me; having now sold most of my carp gear I dont see me coming back soon. I now enjoy special days by lilly pads, watching a float slip away in hope that a good sized tench, perch or crucian is attached...you know OLD boy stuff, i have swapped big pit reels for centrepins; no 3 lb t/c rods for me and now wave my Drennan Tench float and specialist 1 1/4 tc.
I can be tempted to spend some time after the odd big carp and have dabble with a stalking rod and even had a few to high double down my local mere, but come night time I now favour my bed rather than bivvy...perhaps it is was me getting to old , but i was finding that as soon as i had cast my big rods, set the bivvy up and had my first tea, i was bored. i was waking during the night and just thinking about going home again, I thought to myself if all you are doing while you are sitting there is wondering why you were, then it was time to have a change.
Its good to hear that you are still getting a few, the old master Rowan is still trying hard...Vern is still blanking!!!! I will drop down for tea with Vern some time , perhaps you may be there also and we can talk and good catch just like old times

Re: Just found my link...
"come night time i prrefer my bed" thinks thats a sign of old age, lol. Habe you been on ariver looking for these perch ior they reservoir ones?
I can see the appeal to that style, the big carp scene seems to have gone mad, advertising, people thinking its easy and getting put off after couple of blanks you only gotta go the carp forum and some one is asking which mainline bait is going to catch me a 30, becomomg more of a fasion than a sport i fear. so to hide away in a corner of a small lake watching the tip bop and down does have it appeal, but for me at the moment not as much as screaming delkim as long as its mine and rohans again. Although every one down at rougham seems to have their head on and are friendly enough.
Is the crucian lake the one you used to talk about that held the memories of younger years?? I guess you really now are the mighty maggot, size 16 hooks, no.8 shot, 4lb line ya wont need a boillie no more.

Re: Just found my link...
Dont write me off completely there Ash, I still have a couple of short rods and small baitrunners , alarms and enough tackle to do nights enough wanted, you may fine me down some lake trying to get the odd big carp in the future, I know what you mean about it all going mad, I did a night for carp at Hiderclay, the amount of wanna-be Danny hairy asres on there was unreal...big rods and reels, top ranking tackle casting everywhere except the margins under your feet is where they get caught most of the time.
I shall have a dabble for carp when I fancy some easy fishing, I do entend to do a couple of session with Graham and i keep in touch now i have found my link back to here
As you say the bunch down there are not included in that statement, Rougham is a nice place to spend some time, out of the way and has escaped the madness so far.
My perch fishing has mainly been on a local mere ( special little place) .... the crucian water is that i spoke of and i am keen to give it a go this summer, it's day ticket and has a webb page 'rockland mere' course lake. I keep my hand in with the carp fishing as i do still enjoy watching a big golden flank roll over the spreader block, there are a couple of day only carp waters popping up.
Are the new stock putting on proper weight yet??
